We have been asked to list 3 of our favorite books from the past three years for our library patrons. It is an interesting exercise because it is hard to just select 3 books and also because one does not want to list books that will appear on other lists.
I have kept book journals for the last 17 years. Each year, I buy a new journal and note the book, the author, the date I finished the book and a bit about the book--how much I liked it, the themes I found in the book and how successful I thought it was as art.
For this list, I am considering the following books: Night Draws Near by Anthony Shadid, And She Was by Cindy Dyson, Dead I May Be, by Adrian McKinty and a book (not sure which) by Deon Meyer a South African author and The Truth of the Matter by Robb Forman Dew. The latter three books are parts of series by the authors and I thought that this might introduce other people at the library to these authors and really get some of these wonderful but older or less known books moving again.

Herb Garden
I just started our herb garden today. Planted English thyme, not the creeping kind, rosemary, cilantro and flat parsley. The herb garden is the real beginning of spring for me and this year, I plan to use the herbs in my own dressings and marinades so I am looking forward to harvesting them. I also hope to post some recipes for dressings, marinades and gifts for friends and family.
